First for quality

The "Quality" category in the "Art meets technology - back in the game" competition at AMB 2022 was won exclusively by SCHUNK trainees. Machinists and mechatronics engineers spent two months building a digital pinball machine under the direction of SCHUNK trainee instructors Timo Wössner and Hans Krauss and ultimately it was their design that won over the jury.

Quality is the hallmark of SCHUNK as a technology leader and one of its most important values. Both in terms of toolholding and workholding, gripping technology and automation technology, as well as in training itself, the traditional family business is a leader when it comes to quality. It is therefore a superb success that, with a reinterpretation of a pinball machine, SCHUNK trainees from what is now their second year of training were able to gain first place in the "Quality" category of the "Art meets Technology - back in the game" competition. For this, metal-cutting mechanics machined the aluminum profiles and the mechatronics engineers designed the digital surface using software before decorating it with genuine SCHUNK products.

Exhibitors were invited to take part in the campaign at this year's AMB in Stuttgart by the trade journal mav. The task was to re-enact a favorite game that was faithful to the original, with well-known board games just as welcome as classic pub games, sports and dexterity or concentration games. The competition has been spurring AMB exhibitors on to provide proof of their production prowess, ingenuity and love of fun since 2008. The results of the work were exhibited and earned appreciative glances from visitors throughout the entire trade fair. Trainees from a total of twelve companies took part in the 2022 competition. A top-class jury assessed the games based on professional criteria in two categories of originality - type of game, design and appearance and playability - and quality - workmanship and surface quality, execution as well as material. One half of the final result was determined by a jury of experts from the organizer and the other half by voting. The first-place winners from SCHUNK won over the jury with their creativity, quality, care and the high-quality workmanship of their game solution.
