On September 2, 2024, 60 apprentices and students began their professional career at SCHUNK in Lauffen/Hausen. A new addition this year is a degree program with a focus on artificial intelligence (AI). This demonstrates that the company not only adopts and shapes new technologies immediately, but also quickly integrates them into its training concepts."
As a family-owned company, SCHUNK traditionally invests in training its own specialists. The goal is for young talents to stay with the company and develop their career after their training. The success is evident in the high retention rate of 95 percent. Stefan Mühleck, Head of Human Resources Marketing & Training emphasizes: “SCHUNK hat a strong appeal on apprentices and students. Our corporate culture offers ample of room for individual development, the opportunity to discover new technologies, and to work on innovative products. Additionally, we are offering long-term job perspectives. In the coming year we planto increase the number of apprenticeships in Lauffen/Hausen from 60 to approximately 80 percent in line with demand.
True to the motto “Hand in hand for tomorrow,“ the company welcomes the new colleagues into the SCHUNK family. In the first week of September, the training departments have developed an extensive onboarding program to welcome the apprentices and students. It is the aim, to give the young people a sense of being part of a strong community right from the start. That is why the first week includes numerous team-building activities, such as a collaborative plastic art project.
The fact that SCHUNK is one of Germany’s top training companies is reflected by the excellent examination results of the apprentices. They are often among the best of their year. SCHUNK talents also achieve success in vocational competitions at both national and international levels: Julian Gelo, now a fully trained cutting machine operator, won the bronze medal at the German CNC Turning Championships in 2023 and will now represent Germany at the WorldSkills Championship in Lyon in September.
