The professional competition “WorldSkills,“ is renowned for its high standards and global reach. This year, 1,400 top professionals from around 70 countries and regions competed in 64 occupational disciplines to showcase their skills. The German team was represented by 44 professionals in Lyon, competing in 39 disciplines. The performance impressed the jury: The German national team won a total of 31 awards, including one gold, five silver, and three bronze medals, as well as 22 Medals of Excellence, one of which was awarded to Julian Gelo.
Julian Gelo belongs to one of the best young talents in his field with this award. “This medal makes me proud and happy,“ said Gelo after the award ceremony. “The intensive preparation was worth it. The competition was strong, and it feels great to have been honored with the Medal of Excellence for my achievement.”
In the CNC turning discipline precision, technical understanding, and craftsmanship are put to the test. Felix Seidel, CNC trainer at SCHUNK, was on site at the WorldSkills. “Julian Gelo and all the other participants have done a great job. Their successes show that we are very well positioned in the international comparison. The Medals of Excellence are proof of the high level of achievement of vocational training in Germany,“ emphasized Seidel.

WorldSkills takes place every two years in different parts of the world. The organizers focus on vocational skills with national and international competitions. A Medal of Excellence is awarded to all outstanding performers who have narrowly missed out a m medal position.
