The vision-based Application Kit from SCHUNK consists of an application-specific selected gripper such as the EGU, a camera system and an industrial PC with pre-installed AI software. All components in the kit are precisely matched to each other and are process reliable. SCHUNK has developed the intelligent kit for a faster entry into autonomous handling of non-position-oriented objects. No prior knowledge of programming or image processing is required to use it. It frees skilled workers from repetitive tasks, creating a healthier and more attractive working environment. This also convinced the jury of the technology award. The HERMES AWARD was presented during the opening ceremony of the Hannover Messe trade show.
The electric gripper series EGU and EGK enable safe handling processes in a variety of production environments due to individual parameterization capability and different gripping modes. They are based on a standardized, user-friendly functional concept and are future-proof as a result of regular software updates. With their performance data, they can cover a wide range of applications and are therefore the ideal companion for a mechatronic machine concept.

With innovative sensor systems and data transmission, our intelligent clamping devices provide information in real-time and take process reliability to the next level. Another example includes the smart toolholder iTENDO² . It provides real-time data directly from the tool and detects wear at an early stage. In addition to process-reliable machining, the intelligent toolholder ensures a longer tool service life and less waste. With "easy connect" and "easy monitor", SCHUNK provides two enhanced digitalization stages. The extension package iTENDO² easy connect enables simple connection to the machine and to the existing process monitoring system. iTENDO² easy monitor, on the other hand, offers machine operators a straightforward introduction to simple process monitoring.
For the industries of the future, E-Mobility and electronics SCHUNK designs advanced automation solutions. A highlight in Hannover is the new RCG round cell gripper for the flexible handling of battery cells with a diameter of 46 mm. The gripper can be expanded as required to form multiple gripping units and, in combination with the dynamic linear direct axes, enables reliable high-speed applications.
"We are convinced that collaboration and openness lead to groundbreaking innovations that sustainable develop the industry." explains Timo Gessmann. This is why we are committed to working together as partners on many levels and pursues an open, approach with a focus on the user. SCHUNK uses platforms such as NVIDIA, the worldwide leading provider of AI computing, to make its products available as digital twins for system simulation. In the innovation ecosystem for artificial intelligence (AI) Ipai, SCHUNK is working on new practical solutions with the key technology. We also want to contribute to the design of a shared digital data space as part of the Manufacturing X initiative, with experts working together to ensure that the digitalization of the industry significantly picks up speed in the coming years.
