Automated processes make production more efficient and economical. Specialists' workloads can be reduced and they can do more work that is in line with their qualifications. But getting started with automation is not always easy. This is where SCHUNK comes in with its CoLabs. In the robot application centers, SCHUNK experts analyze their customers' possible automation potentials and validate them. The goal: to offer more investment security and make the entry into automation as simple as possible. SCHUNK customers in Central and South America are now also benefiting from this.

First CoLab in Latin America

In a combination of a live event with guests and a live stream, the SCHUNK subsidiary in the Mexican state of Querétaro ceremoniously opened the new CoLab. General Manager Marcos Sepulveda is proud to establish a new service standard in Latin America: "Our experts here evaluate, test, and improve applications from all industrial sectors – from the automotive to the pharmaceutical industry. This gives our customers the opportunity to immerse themselves in real applications and experience the interaction of the components with their workpiece." With a cross-section of industrial and lightweight robots, the CoLab covers handling ranges from 3 to 80 kilograms of workpiece weight. The service offer is aimed at customers, system integrators, distributors, and universities. In this way, students can also gain practical knowledge of automation at SCHUNK. The Mexican CoLab is already the fourth in the world. In Brackenheim-Hausen, SCHUNK customers have already been using this service since December 2020, and other CoLabs will follow in the course of the year.
