The second CoLab in Asia

With the opening of its robot application center in Japan, SCHUNK continues the success story of automation knowledge that can be experienced.

Since its launch in 2020, the concept of the CoLab has already convinced at ten locations worldwide. With the opening of the new robot application center in Shinagawa Japan, near Tokyo on July 14, 2023, customers of this service – in addition to Shanghai in China – are now available at two locations in Asia.

The new CoLab covers and area of over 160 square meters, and is specialized in customers from the industries electronics, automotive and life science and their special requirements. Yasuhiro Hoshino, General Manager of Intec Japan, said: "The CoLab deepens cooperation with our customers and partners. We not only offer application and validation tests, but also develop new applications together with our customers. Thereby, we create real added value and distinguish ourselves from our competitors. Even before the actual opening, we received many inquiries from interested customers."

Bundled automation knowledge

Renowned SCHUNK partners such as FANUC, YASKAWA, Mitsubishi Electric, and DMG Mori attended the opening ceremony. They also contribute their expertise to the center. The guests took the opportunity for exclusive insights into the new CoLab. There they were able to experience innovative technologies such as the energy-free ADHESO grippers or intelligent vision-based gripping with the 2D grasping kit live. As in all SCHUNK CoLabs, customers can test potential applications for their automation projects free of any investment risk, supported by a team of application engineers. They have a wide range of gripping and automation components and robot types at their disposal to determine the optimal combination for their processes.
