For brake disks, fine dust emissions from brake abrasion and tire wear will be taken into account for the first time in the future – this is regulated by the new Euro 7 emissions standard. EMAG LaserTec has developed a machine concept that uses "laser metal deposition" to apply a coating that protects the brake disks from corrosion and wear, and significantly reduces fine dust emissions. At the heart of the machine loading system is the pneumatic PLG long-stroke gripper from SCHUNK. Combined with the GFS swivel fingers, it reduces set-up times and enhances process reliability in brake disk production, while offering potential for future developments. The ability to configure the gripper within a matter of minutes means that customers receive a customized handling solution, and benefit from both, cost transparency and time savings.

Driving digital transformation and enhancing competitiveness – with this goal in mind, companies gathered on November 18, 2024, in Stuttgart for the first SME Day. The event was organized by Next Level Mittelstand (NLM), an initiative launched by Henrik A. Schunk, Chairman of the Steering Committee of Plattform Industrie 4.0, to further strengthen digital competencies in the industry.

With the revision of its MAGNOS magnetic chucks for deformation-free 5-sided machining, SCHUNK offers additional process reliability and user-friendliness. The new ePaper status display clearly shows the machine operator whether the magnetic chucks are activated or deactivated. In conjunction with a specially developed MAGNOS app, users can simulate their clamping situations in advance of machining.
