A total of 79 young professionals started their careers at the three German locations on September 01. Lauffen and Hausen is pleased about 46 apprentices and 15 students; at the Mengen location there is a ratio is 11 to 2, and SCHUNK Electronic Solutions welcomed 5 apprentices. In the meantime, the young talents have arrived in their training teams. After a warm welcome at SCHUNK, they have undergone an extensive on boarding program. The training areas have developed a variety of introductory programs for this purpose. Besides the structured introduction to the different working areas, the focus is on getting to know each other. Several team building activities are offered: In Lauffen for example, there is a close collaboration with our cooperation partner Sport+WellnessPark Alte Ziegelei (fitness center). Participation in training and courses quickly promotes the interaction with the "new team members."
In 2022, a total of 70 young people have started their careers at SCHUNK. This year, we welcomed 9 more talented young people. This confirms that investing in future-oriented professional training is a good investment for SCHUNK. This year, for example, training in computer science was increased to 4 places: in the forward-looking fields of system integration, application development and digital networking. SCHUNK attaches great importance to the fact that young people are given responsibility early on, and thus creating room for personal development and active shaping of the future.
The fact that SCHUNK is one of Germany's top training companies is also reflected in the achieved results of the apprentices at their final exams: Last year, seven graduates completed their apprenticeship as the best apprentices of the year. And also when it comes to job-related competitions, the SCHUNK talents celebrate remarkable successes: The apprentice Julian Gelo qualified for the WorldSkills Championship in CNC turning. At this event Lukas Röser and Tim Vogel were honored as "Germany's best robot programmer" – and won bronze in this discipline at the EuroSkills 2023.
