SCHUNK – Start of apprenticeship in Lauffen/Hausen Around 60 new young talents began their training or studies in September at SCHUNK's Lauffen / Hausen site, which has its own training center.

On September 2, 2024, 60 new apprentices and students started their careers at SCHUNK in Lauffen/Hausen. One particular highlight this year is the new degree course focusing on artificial intelligence (AI). With this course, the company is demonstrating that it not only immediately applies and helps to shape new technologies, but also quickly integrates them into its training concepts.

Almost all young talents remain at SCHUNK for the long term

As a family business, SCHUNK traditionally invests in training its own specialists. The aim is to ensure that talented young people stay with the company and develop after their training. The success is reflected in the high take-up rate of 95 percent. Stefan Mühleck, Head of Human Resources Marketing & Training, emphasizes: "SCHUNK is very attractive to trainees and students. Our corporate culture leaves plenty of room for individual development and offers the opportunity to discover new technologies and work on innovative products. We also offer long-term career prospects." The plan for the coming year is to increase the number of apprenticeships in Lauffen/Hausen from 60 to around 80, in line with demand.

Detailed onboarding program

Operating under the slogan "Hand in Hand for Tomorrow", the company welcomes the new colleagues into the SCHUNK family. For the first week of September, the training departments have developed an extensive onboarding program to welcome the young talents and give them the feeling of being part of a strong community right from the start. In addition to numerous team-building activities, a joint art project is also on the agenda to strengthen team spirit and promote creative collaboration.

Successful young talent on the international stage

The fact that SCHUNK is one of Germany's top training companies is demonstrated by the excellent examination results achieved by the trainees, who are often among the best in their year. SCHUNK talents are also celebrating successes in vocational competitions on the national and international stage: Julian Gelo, a machining mechanic trained at SCHUNK, won the bronze medal at the German CNC turning championship in 2023 and will now represent Germany at the World Skills World Championships in Lyon in September.
