A gentle touch. A strong process.
Controlled gripping motions using SoftGrip modes enable gentle handling of sensitive workpieces. At the same time, integrated gripping force maintenance and loss detection ensure maximum process reliability for demanding handling tasks.
EGK in use
What makes EGK special
One gripper for a wide variety of workpieces
Different workpieces often require different grippers. The EGK can be flexibly adapted to changing component dimensions and allows for the handling of a wide variety of parts variants using just one gripper. The large, freely programmable stroke and the continuously adjustable gripping force reduce the time and effort of changeovers, as well as the number of variants required in gripper design.
Get started quickly and straightforwardly
Standardized communication interfaces, PLC function blocks, and robot plugins simplify integration into existing systems. Open-source software and simulation capabilities support virtual commissioning and accelerate the implementation of new applications. The SCHUNK Control Center also provides functions for configuration, commissioning, and diagnostics.
Suitable for use in highly regulated environments
Cleanroom compatibility and food-compliant lubrication enable use in sensitive industries such as electronics and life sciences. As a result, the EGK is ideal for applications with demanding requirements on cleanliness, process stability, and product quality.
The benefits at a glance.
- Reliable handling of delicate workpieces thanks to SoftGrip modes with reduced force pulses.
- Handle a wide variety of workpieces using just one gripper due to the large range of stroke and continuously adjustable gripping force.
- Get started quickly and easily with a wide range of communication interfaces and comprehensive support, including robot plugins, PLC modules, open-source components, models for virtual commissioning, and the commissioning app in the SCHUNK Control Center.
- Suitable for use in highly regulated environments by cleanroom compatibility, food-compliant lubrication, and low-contamination design.
- Reliable gripping along the entire finger length. The profiled rail guide minimizes gripping force losses and supports high repeat precision.
- Avoid workpiece losses by integrated gripping force maintenance and loss detection.
- Systematically avoid interfering contours and speed up gripping processes by the parallel approach to a freely selectable pre-position even while the machine is still in motion.
- Continue working immediately after a restart, without the need for a reference run, due to a high-resolution absolute encoder.
- Grip and re-grip workpieces even in the event of positional deviations and tolerances without requiring additional approach travel through autonomous centering and controlled build-up of the gripping force via the drive.
- Control and monitor the gripping process precisely using customizable motion and handling functions, as well as status, error and warning messages.
- Virtually maintenance-free due to the use of brushless flat motors.
