Machine Tending

Flexibility is the key to modern automation – and that also holds true for Otto Hofstetter, a manufacturer of injection molds and press dies. As part of its modernization efforts, the company has installed a robot cell for automatic loading and unloading of its turning/milling center. At the heart of the efficient handling technology is the new CPB tool changer with a robust locking mechanism that SCHUNK has used for years in stationary workholding, and has now transferred from the machine table to the robot. The automation specialist is hereby expanding its end-of-arm portfolio for robot applications with a future-proof module for flexible automation.

New technologies, rapidly increasing production volumes, and short development cycles call for precisely tailored machining and automation solutions for industrial projects. SCHUNK develops these solutions individually for each industry and application, ranging from customized components to complete systems. Decades of experience, in-depth industry knowledge, and a broad technology portfolio ensure safety and predictability.

Modular GROW automation cells streamline even simple processes and make it easier to manage product variety. SCHUNK demonstrates this in its own toolholder manufacturing: four cells automate laser marking, oiling, and packaging, eliminating manual bottlenecks in production.

SCHUNK's new vise automation system makes it easy to get started with automated machine loading and unloading. Precise positioning and clamping, simple robot programming, and a manageable capital expenditure ensure reliable processes and longer machine running times.
