Your rights as a data subject

First, we would first like to inform you about your rights as a data subject. These rights are codified in Articles 15 - 22 of the EU GDPR. These include:

  • The right to access (Article 15 EU GDPR);
  • The right to erasure (Article 17 EU GDPR);
  • The right to rectification (Article 16 EU GDPR);
  • The right to data portability (Article 20 EU GDPR);
  • The right to restrict processing (Article 18 EU GDPR);
  • The right to object to processing (Article 21 EU GDPR).

To exercise these rights, please contact: datenschutz@de.schunk.com . You may also contact us at this e-mail address if you have questions about how we process data at our company. Additionally, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority responsible for data protection.

Rights to object

Please note the following regarding your rights to object:

If we process your personal data for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object to such processing of your data at any time without giving reasons. This also includes profiling for direct marketing purposes.

If you make such an objection to the processing of your data for direct marketing purposes, we will cease to process your personal data for this purpose. You can make this objection free of charge and informally by contacting datenschutz@de.schunk.com.

In the event that we process your data to protect legitimate interests, you may object to such processing at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation; this also includes profiling based on these provisions.

We will then cease to process your personal information unless we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or the processing is for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.

Purposes and legal bases of data processing

We process your personal data in compliance with the provisions of the EU GDPR, the German Federal Data Protection Act (BDSG) and all other applicable data protection regulations. The legal bases for the processing of data are primarily based on Article 6 of the EU GDPR.

We use your data to initiate a contract, fulfill contractual and legal obligations, execute the contract, offer products and services and strengthen the customer relationship. This may also include analytics for marketing and direct advertising purposes. We also take sound and visual recordings at events and use these for our press work, the company's own publications (e.g. customer and employee newspaper, brochures, flyers, catalogs, presentations, etc.) and our website as well as for the company's social media channels.

Your consent also constitutes permission under data privacy law. When you give your consent, we inform you about the purposes of data processing and your right to object. If the consent also relates to the processing of special categories of personal data, we will expressly inform you in the consent.

Special categories of personal data as defined in Article 9 (1) of the GDPR are processed only if required by law and there is no reason to believe that your legitimate interest overrides exclusion from processing.

Disclosure to third parties

We will only pass on your data to third parties within the provisions of the law or with appropriate consent. Otherwise, it will not be passed on to third parties unless we are absolutely required to do so by law (disclosure to external agencies such as supervisory authorities or law enforcement authorities).

Recipient of data / categories of recipients

We ensure that your data is disclosed only to those individuals within our organization who require it for the fulfillment of contractual and legal obligations.

In many cases, service providers assist departments in performing their tasks (e.g. sending out newsletters). All service providers have entered into the mandatory data privacy agreement.

Transfer to third countries / intent to transfer to third countries

Data is transferred to third countries (outside the European Union or the European Economic Area) only if required by law or if you have given us your consent to do so.

We transfer your personal data to a service provider or to affiliates in the United States of America to provide you with social media features and video content.

The necessary level of data privacy is ensured through compulsory data privacy agreements with service providers.

Data retention periods

We store your data as long as it is needed for a particular processing purpose. Please note that many data retention laws require storage of data for longer periods. This mainly applies to commercial or tax-related data retention laws (e.g. the German Commercial Code, Tax Code, etc.). Unless further retention requirements apply, data will be routinely deleted after use.

In addition, we may retain the data if you have given us your permission to do so, or if legal disputes arise and we use evidence within the statutory limitation period, which may be up to thirty years; the regular term of limitation is three years.

Secure transfer of your data

We take appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect the data we store against accidental or intentional manipulation, loss, destruction or access by unauthorized persons. Security levels are continuously reviewed in cooperation with security experts and adapted to new security standards.

Exchange of data to and from our website is encrypted. We offer HTTPS transfer protocol on our website and we use the latest encryption protocols. You also have the option of using alternative means of communication (e.g. postal mail).

We have summarized the details of this in the above-mentioned item. In certain cases, we are required by law to collect or make data available. Please note that we cannot process your inquiry or execute the associated contractual relationship unless this data has been provided.

Links to other providers

Our website also contains clearly identifiable links to the websites of other companies. We have no influence on the content of links to the websites of other providers. Therefore, no responsibility or liability can be assumed for such content. The content of such websites is always the responsibility of the respective provider or operator of the website.

Linked websites were checked for possible legal violations and identifiable infringements at the time when the links were created. Illegal content was not recognizable at the time when the links were created. However, continuous monitoring of linked websites is not feasible without concrete evidence of an infringement. Such links will be removed promptly upon notification of rights violations.

Cookies (Article 6 (1) (a), (f) EU GDPR, Section 25 (1), (2) TTDSG)

Our website uses cookies in some places. Cookies make our website more user-friendly, effective and secure. Cookies are small text files that are placed on your computer and stored by your browser (locally on your hard drive).

Due to our legitimate interest (Article 6 (1) sentence 1 (f) EU GDPR), we set technically necessary cookies that are mandatory for the operation of the website and to ensure its functionality. Furthermore, we use cookies without your consent, insofar as their sole purpose is to store or access information stored in the end device for the transmission of messages or when they are absolutely necessary to provide the service you have expressly requested, Section 25 (2) TTDSG.

In addition to our own cookies, we also use cookies that are controlled by third-party providers. These providers use the information contained in the cookies to display, for example, content to you or to record the pages you visit. These cookies enable us to analyze how visitors use our websites. This allows us to customize website content according to the visitor's needs. Cookies also help us to measure the effectiveness of a given advertisement and to place it according to the user's interests, for example.

Most of the cookies we use are "session cookies". They are automatically deleted after your visit. Persistent cookies are automatically deleted from your computer when their validity period (usually six months) is reached or you delete them yourself before they expire.

Most web browsers accept cookies automatically. You can usually change your browser's settings if you prefer not to send the information. You can still use the services of our website without restrictions (with the exception of configurators).

We use cookies to make our website more user-friendly, effective and secure. Subject to your consent, we use cookies that allow us to analyze how visitors use our websites. This allows us to customize content according to the visitor's needs. Cookies also help us to measure the effectiveness of a given advertisement and to place it according to the user's interests, for example. The legal basis for this is your express consent (Article 6 (1) (1) (a) EU GDPR, Section 25 (1) TTDSG).

You can revoke your consent via our Consent banner at any time with effect for the future as well as change the cookie settings. Note that changes must be made separately for each end device.

If you maintain accounts with the third-party providers we use and are logged in there, your data may be linked to the respective account. You can avoid this kind of combination by not granting your consent to the cookies in question in our consent query at the start of your first visit to schunk.com or by revoking it by calling up the "Cookie Settings" in the footer again or by logging out of the respective third-party providers in advance.

Cookies are stored on the user's computer and sent to us from the user's computer. This means that you as a user have full control over the use of cookies. You can disable or restrict cookies by changing the settings in your web browser. Furthermore, existing cookies can be deleted at any time via a web browser or other software programs. This can be done in all common web browsers.

Please note: If you disable cookies, not all functions of our website may be fully usable.

User profiles/web tracking methods

Subject to your consent, this website uses Google Analytics, the tracking tool Google Analytics of Google Ireland Limited, Google Building Gordon House, 4 Barrow St, Dublin, D04 E5W5, Ireland. This allows us to record and systematically analyze your interactions with our website.

The legal basis for processing of your personal data is your consent per Article 6 (1) (1) (a) EU GDPR. You can revoke your consent at any time by calling up the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of the website.
The purpose of processing your personal data through the Google Analytics service is to analyze how our website visitors interact with our website. By evaluating the data obtained here, we can optimize our offer and increase user-friendliness.

Google will use this information on our behalf for the purpose of evaluating your use of our website, compiling reports on website activity for website operators and providing other services relating to website activity and internet usage. Thereby, pseudonymous usage profiles of the users can be created from the processed data.

We only use Google Analytics with IP anonymization enabled. This means that Google will abbreviate the user IP address inside member states of the European Union or the European Economic Area before transmission. Only in exceptional cases will your full IP address be sent to a Google server in the USA and abbreviated there. The IP address obtained from the user's browser will not be combined with other Google data.

Please note that when using this tracking service, data transfers to third countries such as the USA and therefore outside of the European Union are also possible. Companies in these countries are subject to data privacy laws that generally do not protect personal data to the same extent as the Member States of the European Union and therefore the security of your personal data cannot be guaranteed.

We delete or anonymize the data collected by Google Analytics as soon as it is no longer required for our purposes. This is the case after 14 months.

You can find more information on the terms of use and on data protection at https://www.google.com/analytics/terms/de.html and https://policies.google.com/?hl=de

Use of the Google Tag Manager

We use the service called Google Tag Manager from Google. "Google" is a group of companies and consists of Google Ireland Ltd. (provider of the service), Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland as well as Google LLC, 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA and other affiliated companies of Google LLC.

Google Tag Manager is an auxiliary service that processes personal data itself only for technically necessary purposes. Google Tag Manager takes care of loading other components, which in turn may collect data. Google Tag Manager itself does not access this data. However, a connection to Google servers is already established for the use of the Google Tag Manager. Further information on Google Tag Manager can be found in Google's privacy policy.

Google Tag Manager is only activated if consent for the use of Google Analytics has been granted via the Consent banner (Article 6 (1) (a) EU GDPR).

If the data is transferred to the U.S. in the process, there is a risk that your data may be processed by the U.S. authorities for control and monitoring purposes without you possibly having any legal remedies.

Use of Google DoubleClick (post view tracking)

Subject to your consent, this website uses Google DoubleClick cookies (Floodlights). Doubleclick is a service from Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland. Cookies are small text files that are stored by your browser. They are used to analyze how this website is used. The data collected is anonymized and analyzed for statistical purposes only. Your browser is assigned a pseudonymized identification number (ID). DoubleClick cookies do not contain any personal information. You can prevent the use of cookies by clicking on the following Link and downloading and installing the browser plugin available under "DoubleClick Opt-out Extension". Alternatively, you can disable Doubleclick cookies on the Digital Advertising page by clicking on the following Link .

Use of Google Ads (remarketing / conversion tracking)

If you have granted your consent, our website uses the Google Ads service. Google Ads is an online advertising program from Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland (“Google”).
We use the remarketing feature of the Google Ads service. The remarketing feature allows us to show interest-based ads to previous visitors to our website when they browse other websites that are part of the Google Display Network (so-called "Google Ads" on Google itself, or on other websites). For this purpose, the Remarketing feature analyzes how users interact with our website, such as the specific products a user was interested in, in order to display targeted ads on other sites after the user has visited our site. To do this, Google stores a number in the browsers of users who visit certain Google services or websites in the Google
Display Network. This number, referred to as a "cookie," records the visits of these users. This number is used to uniquely identify a web browser on a specific computer and not to identify a person. No personal information is collected.
You can disable the use of cookies by Google by clicking on the following link and downloading and installing the plug-in available: https://www.google.com/settings/ads/plugin . For more information about Google Remarketing and Google's privacy policy, please visit: https://www.google.com/privacy/ads/ .
We also use "conversion tracking" as part of the Google Ads service. When you click on an ad displayed by Google, a conversion tracking cookie is placed on your computer / device. These cookies lose their validity after 30 days, contain no personal data and are therefore not used to personally identify you. The information gathered using the conversion cookie is used to generate conversion statistics for AdWords advertisers who have enabled conversion tracking.
You can prevent cookies from being stored by adjusting your browser settings; please note, however, that doing so may prevent you from fully using all of the functions of this website.
In addition, you can disable interest-based ads on Google and interest-based Google ads on the web (in the Google Display Network) in your browser under https://www.google.de/settings/ads by activating the "Off" button or disabling this option under https://www.aboutads.info/choices/ . For more information about these settings and Google's privacy policy, see https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy/?fg=1 .

Social plugins of social networks

Links to social networks

Our website contains links to social media sites, including Facebook, X, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn and Xing. You can identify links to social media websites by the social media company's icon. These links take you to SCHUNK's page on the respective social media platform. When you click on a link to a social media service, a connection is established to the servers of that social media service. This notifies the servers of the social media service that you have visited our website. Other data is also transmitted to the provider of the social media service. This may include the following:

  • Address of the website containing the link you activated
  • Date and time at which the website was opened or the link was activated
  • Information about the browser and operating system used
  • IP address

If you are already logged in to the social media service when you activated the link, the provider of the social media service may be able to determine your user name, and possibly even your real name, from the data transmitted and link this information to your personal user account with the social media service. You can prevent your information from being associated with your personal user account by logging out of your user account beforehand.
The servers of the social media services are located in the US and other countries outside the European Union. As a result, the data may also be processed by the provider of the social media service in countries outside the European Union. Please note that companies in these countries are subject to data privacy laws that generally do not protect personal data to the same extent as the Member States of the European Union.
Please note that we have no influence on the extent, nature and purpose of data processing by the provider of the social media service. For more information on how the social media services included on our website use your data, see the privacy policies of the individual social media services.

Youtube

Our website uses plugins from YouTube, a site owned by Google. The site is operated by YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA. When you visit a page on our website that contains a YouTube plug-in, you are connected to YouTube's servers. In this case, the YouTube server will know which of our pages you visited. By using pages with an activated YouTube plugin, users are agreeing to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service: https://www.youtube.com/t/terms
If you are logged into your YouTube account, YouTube can associate your browsing history directly with your personal profile. You can prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.
For more information on the handling of user data, see the YouTube privacy policy: https://www.google.de/intl/de/policies/privacy

LinkedIn

If you have granted your consent, this website uses the analysis and conversion tracking technology from LinkedIn Inc. ("LinkedIn"), LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland. The above-mentioned technology from LinkedIn enables advertising based on your interests and which is more relevant to you to be displayed. The legal basis for this data processing is our justified interest in customer-oriented marketing Article 6 (1) (f) of the EU GDPR. Furthermore, LinkedIn also provides us with aggregated and anonymous reports of advertising activity and information about how you interact with our website. LinkedIn is, however, able to match a visit to our site with your LinkedIn user account.

We have no influence on the data collected by LinkedIn in this way, nor on the extent of the data collected by LinkedIn. We also have no knowledge of the content of the data transmitted to LinkedIn.

For more information on data protection at LinkedIn, see: https://www.linkedin.com/legal/privacy-policy#choices-oblig

You may withdraw consent to LinkedIn's analysis of your usage behavior and the display of interest-based recommendations ("opt-out"). To do this click on the field "Opt Out on LinkedIn" (for LinkedIn members) or "Opt Out" (for other users) at https://www.linkedin.com/psettings/guest-controls/retargeting-opt-out .

Contact form / contacting us by e-mail (Article 6 (1) (a) and (b) of the EU GDPR).

Our website includes a contact form that can be used to contact us. If you write to us via the contact form, we will process your data provided in the contact form to contact you and answer your questions and inquires.

We respect the principle of data minimization by requiring you to provide only the information we need to contact you. This includes your name, e-mail address, company name and the message field itself. In order to address you personally, we also process your surname, first name and title. In addition, your IP address is processed for technical reasons and legal protection. All other data are optional fields and can be provided voluntarily (e.g. so we can answer your questions more personally).

If you contact us by e-mail, we will process the personal information provided in the e-mail solely for the purpose of processing your inquiry.

Friendly Captcha

To protect our website from SPAM requests, we use the Friendly Captcha service. Friendly Captcha is a proof-of-work based anti-bot solution where the user's device does all the work. We generate a unique crypto puzzle for each visitor. Solving this puzzle takes only a few seconds and is done while the user enters his or her data into the respective form. When using Friendly Captcha, no cookies are used on users' end devices. The legal basis for the use is our legitimate interest in protecting our website from SPAM requests, Article 6 (1) (f) EU GDPR. For more information on data protection at Friendly Captcha, see: https://friendlycaptcha.com/privacy/ .

Registration for web seminars (Article 6 (1) (a) (b) of the EU GDPR)

When visiting our website, you have the option to register for certain web seminars.

We collect and process the following data:

  • First name and last name
  • Company
  • E-mail address
  • Salutation (optional)
  • Further information (optional)

The data collected will be processed exclusively for the purpose of processing your registration and coordinating your participation in the respective web seminar and will be deleted as soon as the purpose of the data collection ceases to apply, whereby statutory retention periods must be accordingly taken into account. We ensure that your data is disclosed only to those individuals within our organization who require it for the fulfillment of contractual and legal obligations. Within the scope of registration, your data will also be forwarded to the following recipients for the purpose of implementation: Central Event Coordination ( kundenevents@de.schunk.com ).
It is not transferred to third countries (to countries outside the EU / EEA).

Newsletter (Article 6 (1) (a) of the EU GDPR)

You can subscribe to a free newsletter on our website. The e-mail address and your name and title provided in the newsletter subscription will be used to send a personalized newsletter.

Here, the principle of data minimization is observed, as only the e-mail address, title and your interest are marked as mandatory fields. In addition, your IP address is processed for technical reasons and legal protection when you subscribe to the newsletter.

You can of course cancel your subscription at any time by choosing the opt-out option provided in the newsletter, thereby revoking your consent.

SCHUNK newsletters contain web beacons. A web beacon is a tiny graphic that is embedded in e-mails sent in HTML format in order to enable log file recording and analysis. It allows for a statistical analysis of the success or failure of online marketing campaigns. SCHUNK can use the embedded web beacon to detect if and when an e-mail was opened by a data subject and which links the data subject opened in the e-mail.

The controller stores and analyzes the personal data collected by web beacons embedded in newsletters in order to optimize sending of newsletters and to better adapt the content of future newsletters to the interests of the data subject. This personal data is not disclosed to third parties. Data subjects may withdraw the special consent given via the double-opt-in process at any time. This personal data is deleted by the controller after consent is revoked. SCHUNK automatically interprets the cancellation of a newsletter subscription as a revocation of consent.

Advertising purposes for existing customers (Article 6 (1) (f) of the EU GDPR)

SCHUNK is interested in maintaining the customer relationship with you and providing you with information and offers about our products, services and events. Therefore, we process your data in order to send you appropriate information and offers by e-mail or postal mail.

If you do not wish to receive this information, you may at any time object to the use of your personal information for the purpose of direct marketing; this also includes profiling for direct marketing purposes. If you object, we will cease to process your data for these purposes.

You can make your objection free of charge and informally without specifying reasons by sending an e-mail to datenschutz@de.schunk.com or by writing to SCHUNK SE & Co. KG, Spann- und Greiftechnik, Bahnhofstr. 106 - 134, D-74348 Lauffen / Neckar, Germany

Photos and sound recordings of events (Article 6 (1) (f) of the EU GDPR)

We take photos and visual recordings at trade shows and events (photos, videos, etc.). We use these for our press work, the company's own publications (e.g. customer and employee newspaper, brochures, flyers, catalogs, presentations, etc.) and our website as well as for the company's social media channels. If you do not wish to receive this information, you may at any time object to the use of your personal information for the purpose of press work; this also includes profiling for recording purposes. 106 - 134, D-74348 Lauffen / Neckar, Germany.

Applicant portal (Article 6 (1) (a) and (b) of the EU-GDPR)

Thank you for your interest in a career at SCHUNK. We are aware of the importance of your data and process the personal data you provide on the application form solely for the purpose of efficient and correct handling of the application process and for contacting you during the application process. No data will be transferred to third parties without your consent.

You will be asked to provide personal information on the application form. We respect the principle of data minimization by requiring you to provide only the data we need to fully review your application documents (such as your resume) and are legally required to collect. These required details are marked with an * (asterisk). Additionally, your IP address will be processed for technical reasons and legal protection.

Unfortunately, we cannot review your application documents without this data, in which case our application system will not allow you to upload your application documents. You also have the option of supplying information voluntarily on the application form.

We take appropriate security measures to protect the security and confidentiality of your data to the greatest extent possible. Your application documents will be encrypted and transmitted to us by our application system.

We store your data for the above purpose until the application process has been completed and deadlines have expired, no later than six months after receipt of a decision.

Online content for children

Persons under the age of 16 may not submit any personal data to us without the consent of a legal guardian, nor may they give their consent. We encourage parents and guardians to actively participate in the online activities and interests of their children. If there are any tests for proof of age or special precautions for child protection / data privacy (e.g. in apps), explain them here or include separate link.

Use of the DIP (Distribution Information Portal)

Under certain prerequisites, you have the option to use our DIP (Distribution Information Portal). You must provide your personal data in order to register. A personalized account will then be created for you. Your e-mail address is used as your login and for providing your password. The legal basis in this case is Article 6 (1) (b) of the EU GDPR, as this can be used for the implementation of any pre-contractual measures.

In this case, the principle of data minimization is also naturally observed, because only the data necessary for the use of the DIP is collected. The data collected in this context will be deleted once this purpose has been achieved. Of course, you also have the option – should you no longer wish to use our DIP – to delete the account. To do this, simply contact your usual SCHUNK contact person or send an e-mail to datenschutz@de.schunk.com or write to SCHUNK SE & Co. KG, Spann- und Greiftechnik, Bahnhofstr. 106 - 134, D-74348 Lauffen / Neckar, Germany.

Use of the SCHUNK Shop

If you would like to order from our SCHUNK Shop, you must provide your personal data in order to conclude the contract so that we can process your order. The details that we require for processing contracts are highlighted. Other details are optional. To use the SCHUNK Shop, you must register and create a customer account for your company so that we can save your data for later purchases. If you create a customer account under "My Account", the data you provide is saved until you revoke your consent. You can delete all other data, including your customer account, in the customer area at any time.

Purpose and legal basis

We maintain the fan pages ourselves in order to communicate with the visitors of these pages and to inform them about our offers.

In addition, we collect data for statistical purposes in order to be able to further develop and optimize the content and to make our offer more attractive. The data required for this purpose (e.g. total number of page views, page activity and data provided by visitors, interactions) is processed by the social networks and made available to us. In addition, your personal data will be processed by the social media providers, but also by SCHUNK for market research and advertising purposes.
